WHY A COMMON DATA ENVIRONMENT IS SO IMPORTANT

  • In the office, teams need to manage permissions to keep their confidential information private.
  • Incoming bid opportunities need to be managed, distributed and tracked to be sure deadlines are met.
  • Creating estimates from quantity takeoffs needs to be accurate to create the best bids and win
    profitable jobs.
  • The MEP, steel and concrete details of the systems within a building need to be designed correctly so the entire project can actually be constructed.
  • Field teams need access to up-to-date drawings and documents where they work, whether that’s in the office or in the field.
  • Subcontractors need to be able to manage issues created by the general contractor (GC), including tracking the fix and notifying the GC of resolution.
  • During the project, costs need to be tracked and managed against the bid budget for labor and
    materials.
  • Contractors need to track and prove the work they have completed on a job.
  • All teams on the project need to plan safety measures, execute them and track inspections.
