Autodesk Informed Design
Last week Autodesk introduced “Autodesk Informed Design” for those of you who came to the Graitec Design & Manufacturing conferences in Southampton and Leeds in October 2023 you would have seen the beta version of this new technology presented by Gareth Spencer from Autodesk.
Autodesk Informed Design is a cloud-based tool that seamlessly integrates design and manufacturing right from the start. Enhance your building design and construction processes with customisable, predefined building components for accurate outcomes. Now offered as an add-on for both Revit and Inventor. Experience fewer revisions, improved quality, and enhanced sustainability with Autodesk Informed Design.
Inventor users can now add product specifications, rules and constraints to their designs and then push these designs to the cloud. There is no longer a need to create a physical output file or create a Revit family.
Autodesk Informed Design for Revit enables you to access real-time details of building products while designing in Revit – reducing revisions, cutting costs, and elevating project standards. They can use these designs within the rules and constraints set by the manufacturers therefore allowing them to create a more accurate model knowing exactly what the manufacturing constraints are.
These designs have come from the manufacturer with the rules & constraints pre-configured then placed and manipulated by the design team. Once the project design is complete this information can then be utilised by the manufacturer to take these placed designs and automatically create the bills of materials and construction documentation.
