Creating what many of us would term a standard railing, with infill panels, with a combination of tube and flat rails, with fixing lugs between panels, and managing all that for a multiple flight stair that has splits between the elements has always been a challenge to achieve within one macro. Thankfully this is now possible with the Railing tool in the Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel, using the in-built features of the tool.

We will look at how to use some of the features within the railing macro to build a railing with multiple flights and split this into a series of panels, split top rails, grabrails, thus creating multiple bend sections to suit bend forming requirements.

Some of the key features we will walk through:

  • Single railing to multiple flights
  • Rail Segmentation to control post requirement
  • Tree dialog feature for Granular control of the railing elements
  • Panelised rail feature using lugs
  • Applying cap plates
  • Splitting rails within the overall railing
  • Railing, corner types, railing to railing connections
  • Merging Railing elements to form complete sections for bend forming

These features are all within the macro itself and there is no need to exit the macro to achieve these. Please see the attached video PowerPack for Advance Steel Railing Tool – How to Combine Featurest for the full walk through of the approach to combining them together:
