Advance Design CAD Modifications toolbar has two symmetry functions:
1. The Plane Symmetry function copies or moves or moves a number of elements on a plane.
The plane is defined in the current coordinate system and may be in: XY, YZ or XZ.
1.1 Select the element(s) to copy by symmetry (1)
1.2 Access the Symmetry command on the toolbar, or from the Modify / CAD / Symmetries menu (2).
1.3 Using the “Symmetries” dialog box it is possible to:
> create a symmetric copy or a displacement by a symmetry axis or by a reference plane
> preview the result before applying the symmetry
2. The “Symmetry by an axis” function copies or moves a number of elements about a specified axis.
This function is not implemented in Effel Structure.
2.1 Select the element(s) to copy by symmetry (1):
2.2 Access the Symmetry command on the toolbar, or from the Modify / CAD / Symmetries menu (2).
2.3 Using the “Symmetries” dialog box it is possible to
> create a symmetric copy or displacement about a reference axis defined by 2 points
> preview the result before applying the symmetry
Note: another icon on the CAD Modification toolbar creates symmetric copies (plane or axial), without using a dialog box:
Select the elements to copy and click the corresponding icon. Move over the element that defines the symmetry axis (linear element, line, etc.), click to validate and the element is copied.
