Reinforcing A Concrete Beam In Revit Using Graitec BIM Designers 1

In this guide we are going to look at how to reinforce a concrete beam in Revit using the Graitec BIM Designers tool. There are some standard reinforcement tools built into Revit, which allow us to manually reinforce concrete elements in the Revit model, these tools are useful but can be time consuming. With the help of the Graitec BIM Designers tool we are going to speed this process up.

Firstly, if desired we can predefine assumptions on any element. To do this, select the element and then go to: Graitec Concrete > Assumptions > Reinforcement > Reinforcement Assumptions.

With the beam still selected, we then use Graitec Detailing > Reinforcement > Edit Rebar. Reinforcing A Concrete Beam In Revit Using Graitec BIM Designers 4

This opens the reinforcement wizard where we define the reinforcement we want. For the beam we can define the longitudinal reinforcement, we can define reinforcement in the top and bottom portions of the beam, and we add packets (groups) and set the number of bars, bar diameters, offsets and hooks. We can also define the supports, transversal reinforcement and additional reinforcement. For the transversal reinforcement we add packets of bars and set the number of spacing, spacing size and offsets.

Once we are happy we click the OK button and the wizzard will generate the reinforcement acordingly. The rebar is just standard Revit rebar and so can be edited with the built in tools, e.g. number of bars, spacing, bar diameters etc…
