I hope everyone is keeping safe out there, it’s a worrying time for everyone, we at Graitec are all working from home, so we are here to help as we are normally.

From an Advance Steel perspective there are a couple of questions that keep popping up regarding working from home.

The first relates to the software and hardware, if you can take your machine home with you then that’s fine, if you can’t and you have a PC / Laptop at home then you can still use your Advance Steel.

If you are worried about the specification of your home PC then you can check it against the Autodesk recommended specification – https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/advance-steel/troubleshooting/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2020/ENU/AdvSteel-Install/files/GUID-A49EDDAC-A0F6-4FA1-89EA-3368269F1853-htm.html

For licenses if you are on a subscription the Advance Steel license is linked to your Autodesk Account, you simply need to shut down Advance Steel on your work PC, then install Advance Steel (from manage.autodesk.com) and log into your account. The license will only work on one PC at a time so please make sure it is shut on your work PC

Once you have Advance Steel installed on your home PC you will want the same settings as you have in the office, Aleck Giles has written a blog for cloning settings between PCs – https://graitec.co.uk/blog/entry/clone-advance-steel-settings-between-pcs

The second issue you might encounter is accessing your data, there are numerous cloud based solutions depending on what you want to achieve as a company including Autodesk BIM360. If you have any questions relating to cloud-based data please reach out to us.

Finally, our support line is operating as usual and if you are booked on an Advance Steel training course or have been thinking about a training course these have now been moved to online courses.
