This year Autodesk focused on new ways of managing various parts and assemblies that are similar to each other using model states. They also worked hard on continued development for the interoperability between Inventor, Revit, and Fusion 360. Let us look at what is new in the Inventor 2022 release.
Model States
Model States is a powerful new workflow that enables you to create multiple representations of a part or assembly within a single document to provide a convenient way to engineer, manage, and manufacture your designs with different dimensions and parameters, components, properties, or simplification.
Instance Properties
Instance properties enables you to assign properties to individual component instances. Assigned properties are stored in the parent assembly. Unlike iProperties, Instance Properties do not affect the referenced component files. Instance Properties are assigned to individual component instances only and can override custom iProperties.
New Simplify Command
The new Simplify command replaces both the Shrink-wrap and Shrink-wrap Substitute commands. With Simplify you remove components and features from complex assemblies to make collaboration and downstream use easier.
Interoperability
Export to RVT incorporates the new Simplify command to produce an RVT model having only the components and features needed for the Revit design.
QIF 3.0 support is added this release. The QIF export option enables you to export a Quality Information Framework file which contains PMI data.
Performance
The improvements to graphics technology and hardware utilization has shown tremendous results across the board with everyday use. For those of you who enjoy editing your parts while working in the assembly, you will find several performance improvements while editing sketches and visibility improvements. Your GPU is now better utilized for visual styles like displaying wireframe and silhouette edges. Opening and closing documents is faster than ever so that you can get to work quicker and close your documents to get started on the next project.
Productivity
Productivity enhancements made to the filler command, Assembly constraints, the drawing environment and many more.
